Hours for meetings are 7:00 am - 5:30 pm weekdays and Saturdays 8 am - 1 pm.. Both parties connected with the project (if there are two) must be present at our initial meeting so we can all become acquainted, and be in united agreement on the important issues of your project.
Initial Home Tour
Upon arrival (at your home) Susan will view your existing kitchen in relation
to
the surrounding rooms. In our design work, the space in question is not
treated
as a separate entity. Therefore, the architectural detailing of your home,
your
home's design theme, and the use of color, texture, and scale will all be
carefully
observed and discussed with you so that a natural visual
connection to
the space can be established.
Project Details
During our meeting, your wish list, design direction, and project requirements
will be discussed in detail. Please show us your file of magazine clippings
or other photos of spaces you admire. We will bring literature for you as well.
Together, we will develop your goals and expectations for your project.
The Budget
We will measure the room (or architectural plans) and provide you with
an estimate
for cabinetry, countertops, tile work and appliances. We will
discuss these costs and establish a general budget plan.
Design Retainer
To proceed to the next step, a design retainer is required by our company,
payable
at the start of the design process. The retainer for a kitchen ranges
from $3,500-$5,000
depending on the size and scope of the project and varies for other types of projects.
The retainer is later applied
toward your cabinet purchase. Retainers for
bathrooms, library, media cabinetry or other areas, are based on the size and
scope of those particular projects.
Our Design Studio
We would love to have you visit our design studio in Northport. You will enter a spacious, yet intimate, 1,000 square foot space, divided into 4 separate areas...
1) Susan's office, a generously sized area with large computer monitor (SS-SVC) where you may sit with Susan on occasion to tweak your plan (lots of fun and very productive), something not normally "done" in our business, but which all of our clients greatly enjoy, and we do too. It's a truly collaborative process. An important, and helpful, part of these in-studio meetings is (SS-SVC) Susan's ability to bring up any one of, literally, 1,000+ images to illustrate a detail, a finish, whatever it is that is affecting a thought or decision, as we work together. This is an integral part of our in-studio meetings.
2) the central area with 3 small displays of cabinetry, and where Susan's assistant works
3) a sample room with samples of fully exposed cabinetry, allowing for evaluation of cabinet construction, 100+ door styles, 100+ wood finish samples, and 100+ countertop samples, including numerous "different" countertop samples, and
4) a generously sized conference room, with many samples of granite, many molding samples, more door samples, and a comfortable sitting area with two love seats and a coffee table. (SS-SVC) Our design studio is a comfortable, cozy, space, free of distractions, and by appointment only to provide our clients with meetings that are focused solely on their project, in relaxed and comfortable surroundings.
